§ 39.27. SPECIAL LEAVE.

  • (A) In addition to authorized leave, the Mayor may authorize an employee to be absent without pay for personal reasons for a period or periods not to exceed thirty (30) working days in any calendar year.
    (B) The Mayor may authorize a special leave of absence with or without pay for regular full-time employees for any period for the purpose of attending college or other training that is deemed to be beneficial to the city service.
    (C) Any full-time employee who is selected for jury duty or is called as a government witness, shall receive a paid leave of absence for the time spent on such duty. If an employee is summoned as a plaintiff or a defendant in a proceeding involving or arising from outside employment, he or she shall not be paid.
    (D) Leave shall be granted as required under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.
